Fortune favors the brave.
I could use a million. I could redeem myself with just 6 zeros. Because then the world would always be evergreen for me. I don’t want lots of money. Just a small fortune will do. An airplane and a yacht (even a small one); I don’t think I want to be rich. Just have enough to lie in my jacuzzi for as long as I like…
The words of a South African song written 20 years ago. But the notion still rings true today. Clearly 6 zeros are no longer enough, more like 7-9 zeros would be good. Many people long for the fortune but lack the bravery. Fortune favors the brave. Fear kills our dreams.
Nelson Mandela said: ‘Our deepest fear is not that we are inadequate. Our deepest fear is that we are powerful beyond measure. It is our light, not our darkness that most frightens us. We ask ourselves, Who am I to be brilliant, gorgeous, talented, fabulous? Actually, who are you not to be? You are a child of God. Your playing small does not serve the world. There is nothing enlightened about shrinking so that other people won’t feel insecure around you. We are all meant to shine, as children do. We were born to make manifest the glory of God that is within us. It’s not just in some of us; it’s in everyone. And as we let our own light shine, we unconsciously give other people permission to do the same. As we are liberated from our own fear, our presence automatically liberates others.’
Make a choice to do something brave. Stop settling for second best. Start that business that
you’ve been wanting to start. Phone those prospective customers that you were scared to speak
to. Go present your idea to some investors.
If Mr Fortune had to choose between Miss Fearful, Miss Careful and Miss Brave, He will always
choose Miss Brave.
Be the chosen one. Be brave.
